One of the special features of the new Parliament building is the “Pengal,” which has been set up through the Tamil Monks. The word “Pengal” in Tamil language means “women.” The Tamil Monks have done the religious activities to Pengal and handed over to our great Prime Minister Hon’ble Narendra Modi ji .

Eventually Our Prime Minister installed this in the new Parliament building to bring peace and harmony to the building. The “Pengal” is made up of bronze and gold, and it has been installed at the back of Speaker’s sit, which is the first thing that MPs see when they enter the building.

Moreover, the new Parliament building has been designed by world-renowned architect Bimal Patel, and it has been constructed by Tata group. The building has been constructed over an area of around 64,500 sqm, and it has been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 971 crore.

Besides, the building has been constructed in a triangular shape, which symbolizes India’s tryst with democracy.

The Tata Group has built the new Parliament building under the Central Vista project. A company named Obeetee Carpets was entrusted with the task of making carpets for the new building.

According to company sources, it took 1 million hours to make carpets for Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Over 300 artisan rugs are known to have been created by artisans during this period.

Incidentally, 150 carpets each have been used to cover the floors of the two chambers of Parliament. According to the manufacturing companies, carpets were first made in small batches. Later a large carpet is made by sewing. This carpet covers approximately 35,000 square feet of floor space in each room.

The total allocation for the Central Vista project was Rs. Out of this, the construction cost of the new parliament building alone was Tk 800 crore. In January 2022, the Modi government increased the allocation for the Central Vista project to Tk 1250 crore.

Tata Group won the tender for the construction of the new Parliament building. According to the information available from the official website of Central Vista, Rs 862 crore was initially allocated for the construction of the new Parliament building.

But, in 2021, the government said in a reply in the Lok Sabha, the cost of this project has increased to 971 crores. But this is not the first time, after this the allocation of the project has been increased. According to a report published by NDTV in January 2022, the budget of the project has increased to 1250 crores. 26 thousand 45 metric tons of steel, 63 thousand 807 metric tons of cement were used in the construction of the new parliament building.

About 24 lakh 12 thousand people have been worked in this project for a long time. The new parliament building has been built over an area of 64,500 square meters. Teak wood was brought from Nagpur, sandstone was brought from Rajasthan for the construction of the new parliament building. The opposition has already moved with ‘Sengal’. The first Prime Minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru, received the Sengal from the British.

After the Puja on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi installed the Sengal next to the Lok Sabha Speaker’s seat. Congress is all over this.
